Excellent combination - optimally economical

After the production of instrument panel foils, for example through IMG thermoforming, two separate processing steps are normally still required before foaming. In the first step, the outer edge of the thermoformed foil is trimmed to the correct contours for foaming. Trimming can be carried out by punching or blade cutting. In the second step, the skin is scored using a blade in the airbag area. With the new FRIMO FlexTrim Kombi trimming/scoring unit, both operations can be performed in a single step. The foil is placed into a general product fixture and processed with two different cutting tools. Depending on the requirements of the project, this can be done using an ultrasonic, scalpel, round or VOCKS blade and by applying a release agent.

The unit''s innovative concept provides flexible options for design and construction, and also offers the potential to combine additional steps. For example, a unit with two stations and two robots, equipped with automatically changing cutting heads, could be used to process two different products using one or two different trimming processes. In addition, the FlexTrim Kombi unit can rotate between up to four different cutting tools in use at the same time. An automatic head-changer is also built in as standard (US heads, release agent device, rotary blade device, etc.) and the robots are designed with maximum accuracy for optimum trimming.
