From Fast Charging Expansion to Transparent Billing: IVY METERING Introduces the EM619025 Series DC Energy Meter
A compact, direct-connected DC metering solution designed for DC fast charging, solar PV and energy storage applications, supporting bi-directional metering, RS485, Ethernet and OCMF-compatible data verification.
As DC fast charging, solar PV and battery energy storage systems continue to scale, IVY METERING introduces the EM619025~27 series, a direct-connected DC energy meter designed for bi-directional metering, RS485 and Ethernet communication.
The global EV charging market is entering a new stage where network expansion and quality improvement are happening at the same time. As public fast and ultra-fast charging points grow rapidly, charge point operators are no longer focused only on power output and station quantity. Accurate metering, transparent billing, remote data integration and compliance readiness have become equally important. For DC fast charging, energy metering is not just a back-office settlement tool; it is the foundation of user trust in every charging bill.
In Europe, this shift is particularly visible. AFIR is pushing publicly accessible charging infrastructure toward better connectivity, easier access and clearer price transparency. In public charging scenarios of 50 kW and above, clear kWh-based billing is becoming a core operational requirement. As a result, the meter is evolving from a single hardware component into a key node connecting the charger, the backend system, the payment process and end-user confidence.
To meet these needs, IVY METERING has launched the EM619025~27 series direct-connected smart DC energy meter. Developed for DC EV chargers, solar PV stations, battery energy storage systems and other DC energy management applications, the series adopts an integrated shunt design and DIN-rail mounting structure to deliver high-current DC metering in a compact form factor. With 200A, 400A and 650A current versions and a rated voltage range of 100V to 1000V DC, it can support different system requirements from DC fast chargers to higher-power energy infrastructure.
The EM619025~27 series supports forward and reverse energy metering, reaches Class 1 energy accuracy, and displays key parameters such as voltage, current, energy and power. For future scenarios such as V2G, solar-storage-charging integration, and battery charge/discharge management, bi-directional metering helps systems distinguish energy input and output more accurately, providing a reliable basis for energy management, settlement and operational analysis.
For communication and system integration, the series supports both RS485 and Ethernet. RS485 is compatible with Modbus RTU and DL/T645-2007, while Ethernet supports HTTP-JSON and HTTP-OCMF. This enables charger controllers, cloud platforms, energy management systems and billing backends to access metering data more efficiently. With instantaneous parameter refresh time of no more than 100 ms, the meter also supports faster monitoring and fault response.
For legally relevant billing, the EM619025~27 series supports OCMF readings in line with the S.A.F.E. approach and is compatible with transparency software verification. By providing verifiable metering data, charge point operators and platform providers can offer more trustworthy charging records to end users and better address the traceability and verification expectations associated with German Eichrecht and related markets.
The series also integrates self-diagnosis, alarm and safety protection functions, including monitoring for over-current, over-temperature, magnetic interference and low battery status. It supports line-loss energy compensation, real-time shunt temperature monitoring, local and remote firmware upgrades, and network time synchronization. These functions allow the meter to play a role not only in measurement, but also in the reliable operation and long-term maintenance of charging equipment.
Beyond DC fast charging, the EM619025~27 series can also be used for DC-side solar PV generation monitoring, battery energy storage charge/discharge statistics, data center DC microgrids, and telecom base station power management. For OEMs, charger manufacturers and system integrators that need high-accuracy DC metering in limited cabinet space, its compact DIN-rail design, wide voltage range, multiple current options and multi-protocol communication can improve project adaptation efficiency.
As charging infrastructure moves toward higher power, stronger connectivity and stricter billing transparency, the value of a DC energy meter is expanding from “measuring electricity” to “supporting trustworthy transactions.” With compliance-oriented design, stable communication capability and verifiable metering data, the IVY METERING EM619025~27 series provides a reliable metering foundation for next-generation DC charging and new energy infrastructure.
