As the foundation of all industries, the manufacturing industry is an important part of the economy and closely related to people’s daily lives. 1. Types of motion controller

From the perspective of communication protocol, the motion controller, which is the core component of automated production equipment, can be divided into bus type and pulse type. Pulse type is normally used in low-end equipment, while the bus type is with more applicability, reliability and development. As manufacturing upgrades, bus type EtherCAT will be the mainstream of motion controllers.

Intel® Edge Controls for Industrial perfectly adapted to Intel industrial edge node products, edge controllers KGEC-6310 and KGEC-6320, which can be used to develop RTOS (real-time operating system) with ECI.

The solutions for realizing RTOS are as below:

1) Debug and develop based on Intel ECI platform to generate an open-source Xenomai Linux or Preempt RT Linux real-time operating system;

2) Base on Windows 10, it can also integrate real-time components such as EC-Win, INTime and RTX2016 to optimize into Windows RTOS;

3) Adopt professional and efficient real-time systems such as VxWork and QNX.

Third-party application development platforms (tools) can be rooted in the above Real-time operating system for users to develop terminal applications efficiently and differentiated. Third-party programmable logic controller development platforms (tools) generally include Codesys’ Development System and AXEL’s LogicLab SoftPLC. The developed application software requires the manufacturer’s Runtime System License to be put into use.

The real-time communication of the upper application software to the lower servo drive and the logic IO module needs to be realized through Fieldbus protocols such as EtherCAT, RTEX, Profibus and CanOpen. Among them, the most applicable and the most widely applicable is the EtherCAT protocol.
