Application Guide for Recycled Copper in Transformers

Usage guide and recommended application scenarios

Recycled copper wire is viable for transformers if meeting IEC/IEEE standards (conductivity ≥100% IACS, impurities ≤0.03%).

·Pros: 30% cost savings, 40% lower carbon footprint;
·Note: Slightly lower conductivity (99-101% vs virgin 101-102%), 1.5-2% higher load loss.
·Recommended for: Distribution transformers (≤2500kVA), temporary units;
·Avoid: Large transformers (≥10MVA).

Requires electrolytic refining and IEC 60468 testing for quality assurance.
