New industrial laundry facility for OCA

While productivity and operator well-being are at the heart of industrial concerns, OCA was able to meet the needs of one of its renowned customers in the industrial laundry sector by setting up an innovative overhead installation.

An upgrade is necessary

OCA teams recently worked in the clean linen section of a well-known laundry. Previously, the customer's sorted garments were sent to a single automatic folding machine. The throughput of processed garments was not maximized because the overhead system, which transported the clean garments to the shipping stations, was showing signs of disrepair.

A solution to meet the highest demands

After studying the existing system, our teams designed a new installation incorporating specific features that our client had not yet experienced.

First, OCA technicians replaced the old conveyor between a storage area and the tour preparation stations. To this new transport system, an innovative process was added: a device consisting of a marker. This method allows the industrial operators to identify the last garment of a customer, so that they can be classified correctly before leaving for the shipping area.

The performance of OCA overhead systems

After several weeks of design, the new overhead conveyor has finally found its place in the laundry. This process allows our customer to stock up on not one but two folding machines! The advantage for this laundry is that it can better anticipate customer changes, which optimizes the management of clothing flows in its establishment. Thanks to the new process, it is now possible to identify the end of visual and automated customer batches, in order to warn the production operators of an upcoming change.

Today, the storage capacity has been tripled for our customer. In addition to improving production performance, the transformation of the sorting conveyor has also allowed a reorganization of the clean laundry area and the development of workstations, which are now more ergonomic. Our customer has also told us that the laundry area looks clearer, which creates a more pleasant working environment. This is reflected in the well-being of its employees! Satisfied with the service received by OCA, our customer has already entrusted us with future improvement projects for other units in his production area.
