OCA equips the new slaughterhouse of a famous agri-food group
A major French food group recently invested in a new slaughterhouse to modernize its production space.
A major French food group recently invested in a new slaughterhouse to modernize its production space. Our customer chose to build a 17,000 m2 facility to improve the conditions of slaughtering, cutting and packaging of chickens. The construction of this new production center allows our client to remain in line with its values, in particular that of improving the well-being of its personnel.
When flexibility and adaptability are required
A few months ago, our client called on OCA to take up a new challenge: to design a new slaughterhouse with flexible production lines, capable of switching from one production to another and adapting in a short time to different production flows. Our teams, with their experience in overhead handling in the food industry, were able to meet these technical requirements.
Automation at the service of man
For a few weeks now, OCA teams have been installing two automated rope conveyors over 500 meters in this new poultry production area. These two installations were equipped with three double carton loaders to feed the production line and 14 unloading ramps to supply the workstations with empty containers.
Preserve more to produce more
These OCA conveyors are located at the end of the production line: in the poultry packaging section. The conveyors deliver cartons to the production operators, who can then fill the empty containers with cut and packed poultry.
The OCA automated handling system has a dual purpose for this food giant:
- Optimize its production rates: the OCA conveyors distribute 4 references of boxes at a rate of 1900 boxes per hour, all on a surface of 3 500 m2. The advantage of the OCA system is that it is able to trace each carton reference thanks to a chip system, which allows the supply of empty cartons to be adapted in real time, according to the desired production flow.
- Protecting employees: the system for transporting boxes to workstations prevents operators from making movements that can cause MSDs (Musculoskeletal Disorders)
