PICVISA will be at Ecomondo, supporting ecological transition and the circular and regenerative economy
The Ecomondo fair will take place from Tuesday, November 5 to Friday, November 8 in Rimini, a city located in northeastern Italy. Celebrating its 27th edition this year, Ecomondo serves as a crucial platform for exhibition and discussion within the industry. For PICVISA, participating in this event is also vital, as it represents a key step in our internationalization strategy.
Ecomondo has already established itself as a reference point in Europe and has become an essential event in the recycling sector. It is undoubtedly an ideal showcase for presenting our technological solutions, which are crucial for ecological transition and new models of circular and regenerative economy. By participating in this international fair, PICVISA aims to demonstrate its technological solutions to the Italian market, particularly the textile sector. Innovative solutions such as those applied by Esposito, a leading Italian company in the production of management and sorting equipment for used clothing, will be featured. Recently, they signed a contract with us to implement a groundbreaking automated garment sorting line by composition and color at their facility in Marcianise. With this new installation, PICVISA is taking another step towards establishing itself as a key player in the textile sector, bringing our advanced optical sorting technology to a critical market like Italy.
Recovering and recycling used clothing is an essential task, necessary to counteract the environmental impact of the fashion industry, which is responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions and produces 92 million tons of waste annually. For every kilogram of clothing reused or recycled, up to 3.6 kilograms of CO2 emissions are saved, and the demand for raw materials like cotton is reduced—cotton production requires 20,000 liters of water for just 1 kilogram. By extending the life cycle of clothing, the efforts of Esposito directly contribute to these reductions, significantly mitigating the industry’s environmental footprint and supporting the global shift towards a circular economy.
PICVISA estará en Ecomondo, apoyando la transición ecológica y la economía circular y regenerativa
At Esposito’s facility in Marcianise, 100 tons of used garments and shoes are already managed daily. With the advanced automated 4.0 system that PICVISA will implement, operational by early 2025, this plant will become one of the most sophisticated in the country, allowing the revaluation of used clothing through an exhaustive sorting and regeneration process that prepares garments for reuse and sale in various global markets.
Ensuring traceability
Ultimately, Esposito’s facility will be modernized with PICVISA’s new automated line designed to sort clothing into 24 distinct categories, thanks to a dual conveyor belt system capable of processing up to two tons of clothing per hour.
This breakthrough will significantly increase efficiency and accuracy in categorizing garments by composition and color. Additionally, it will incorporate a sophisticated product traceability system that tracks each stage of the process, facilitating meticulous control throughout. This project is part of Esposito’s bold strategic plan to continuously improve the management of garments intended for the second-hand market and textile recycling.
PICVISA’s technology strengthens Esposito’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, ensuring that its operations remain at the forefront of efficiency and ecological responsibility. For PICVISA, the installation at Esposito represents a significant progress in its growth within the textile sector, bolstering its position in the essential Italian market. We are confident that many other Italian textile organizations will choose PICVISA’s products and services when they visit our stand at Ecomondo —A4 113—and discover our cutting-edge solutions.
Don’t miss out! We look forward to seeing you at this major recycling event in the Emilia-Romaña region.
