Promax microbore polishing technology

Promax Smart Microbore Polishing Machine

As the Coronavirus epidemic continues to heat up globally, masks, as one of the most important components of PPE (personal protective equipment), the production of which has become a worldwide topic.

For mask production, the core raw material is polypropylene meltblown cloth. With the increasing demand for meltblown cloth in the world, many manufacturers turn to the upstream of the production line and begin to focus on the production of spinneret that is a key component of meltblown machine. However, there are hundreds of small holes on the spinneret. The hole diameter is very small, usually between 0.1 and 0.3mm. It takes more than ten hours to discharge and perforation only, let alone polishing these small holes too.

The current polishing technology for microbore includes high pressure water, abrasive flow and the traditional way of manual processing. Abrasive flow is the most common method, it costs less than high pressure water and is much faster than the manual way. But it has its own defects. The abrasive medium has poor fluidity and it is difficult to reach the processing area effectively. After deburring and polishing, it is difficult to remove the abrasive. In addition, consumables need to be replaced regularly, and the cost is high.

Promax microbore polishing technology overcome the flaws from the current methods. The mechanism is changing fluid motion into mechanical work. By using Promax designed unique plunger pump to push fluid mixed with abrasive media flows into the workpieces that held by special designed fixtures, turbulence will be generated to act on the surfaces to be processed. By repeated work, the inner wall of holes will be polished with micro defects being repaired and a much better precision.

The efficiency of Promax microbore polishing machine is at least five times compared to the traditional method, with a lower cost of liquid based abrasive. There are no restrictions on the shape or size of the parts, since the fixtures using to hold the parts can be customized.
