PlasmaConnect™: NTP Oxidation for Drinking Water, Wastewater and Water Reuse

Compact, energy-efficient plasma technology for pollutant removal and stable water quality

PlasmaConnect™ by SFC Umwelttechnik is a compact and modular system for advanced oxidation in water treatment.

The system generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) from ionised ambient air. These are produced by dielectric barrier discharge (DBE) in pure air, without supply air treatment and without continuous dosing of oxidation chemicals. Due to their high oxidation potential, the ROS effectively degrade organic and inorganic pollutants while sustainably improving microbiological water quality.

PlasmaConnect™ addresses a broad spectrum of water treatment requirements:
• Removal of anthropogenic trace substances as a 4th treatment stage
• Drinking water treatment through oxidative removal of iron, manganese and arsenic from raw and groundwater
• Colour and humic substance removal
• Optimisation of biological treatment stages through reduction of bulking sludge
• Applications in water reuse

For iron, manganese and arsenic removal, the metals are oxidised into filterable compounds. In combination with downstream C-MEM™ ultrafiltration, reductions of over 99% can be achieved while ensuring very low turbidity levels.

PlasmaConnect™ offers:
• Very low energy consumption (< 0.5 kWh/m³)
• No continuous chemical dosing
• No supply air treatment or external cooling
• No bromate formation, even in bromide-containing raw water
• No pH adjustment or replacement of adsorbers required
• Robust, low-maintenance system design
• Modular and flexibly scalable architecture
• Immediate operational readiness without start-up time

With PlasmaConnect™, SFC Umwelttechnik expands its technology portfolio with an innovative advanced oxidation solution, providing an energy-efficient and sustainable option for demanding drinking water, wastewater and water reuse applications.
