New generation of safety vibration sensors
A new generation of safety vibration sensors is available. The models NVA115 and NVA120 are available mainly for wind turbines to protect them from damage caused by vibrations.
The safety vibration sensor NVA/S3 is certified according to EN ISO 13849-1:2015 PLd and detects accelerations from 0.05 to 60 Hz up to an amplitude of 2 g. It is optimized for use in the wind industry to protect wind turbines from damage caused by tower and generator vibrations. The acting acceleration is evaluated via selectable frequency filters and output via the CANopen Safety interface. Two safe switching contacts are available as parameterizable limit switches for the safety chain.
The measured value of the acceleration can be output and further processed as an instantaneous or peak value, as an RMS average value or as an integrated value. The latter function is important for shutting down the system if an adjustable acceleration limit value is exceeded slightly, but for a longer period of time. Control processes can be realized with fast Butterworth filters of small order. The Fourier frequency analysis, which determines the frequency spectrum, rounds off the functional diversity of the NVA/S3. A similar model of vibration sensors is also available with PROFIsafe via PROFINET interface: NVT90.
The new sensor complements TWK's portfolio of industry-proven, safe PLd/SIL2 certified sensors, such as inclinometers, encoders and cam controllers.
