How clamp-on and inline sensors differ—and how to make the right process design decision

As industries push for non-invasive, high-precision fluid measurement, ultrasonic flow sensors are becoming the backbone of process control across medical, bioprocess, industrial automation, and semiconductor sectors.

The interchangeability trap

Yet a recurring sourcing mistake is treating clamp-on and inline sensors as interchangeable. They are not.

Clamp-on sensors attach externally to existing flexible tubing—ideal for retrofitting, contamination-free operation, and applications where pipe cutting is impossible.
