IEF-Werner at Motek 2022: Cleanliness is a must

Motek celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. IEF-Werner GmbH has been an exhibitor from the very beginning.

This year, the automation specialist is presenting its varioSTACK CF "Clean Factory", among other things. The open and modular palletising system is suitable for high-precision and automated production processes in cleanrooms. This holistic palletiser concept is successfully used, for example, in medical technology, in the pharmaceutical industry and in the electrical industry.

Furtwangen, 25.8.2022 – The varioSTACK CF can be adapted to almost any task. The user can operate this solution with integrated IEF product handling. In addition, he can load the extremely compact palletiser with pallet trolleys or conveyor belts as standard. Trays weighing up to 15 kilograms are thus loaded and unloaded. The developers at IEF-Werner have separately optimised the varioSTACK CF for production under clean conditions. While maintaining the fast cycle times, the aspects of particle generation and cleanability in particular have been improved - for example, via linear units with metal belt covers, which IEF-Werner will also be showing at the Motek.

The metal belt cover protects the linear drive from the ingress of dirt or particles on the one hand and prevents the release of particles into the environment on the other. This makes the drives suitable for clean rooms according to ISO 14644-1 from class 1 to 8. The Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation has tested and certified this. This enables manufacturers from the pharmaceutical and medical technology industries to meet the cleanliness requirements for linear units.

In Stuttgart, IEF-Werner will also be showing the successful aiPRESS servo press series. The flexibly designed systems can be integrated into automated production lines as well as manual workstations. They are available in four sizes: with three kilonewtons and 180 millimetres opening, 15 kilonewtons and 230 millimetres opening, 36 kilonewtons and 280 millimetres opening. The largest version is the aiPRESS 100, which weighs about 650 kilograms, has opening of 350 millimetres and can also press larger components with a force of up to 100 kilonewtons and a repeat accuracy of a few micrometres. IEF-Werner selects the right motor for the customer's application for each force level. Already included in the standard system is now also the external displacement measuring system, which is mounted directly on the press spindle sleeve.

Trade visitors can also find out about the domiLINE adjustment unit at Motek. This proven adjustment slide can be used, for example, to manually move measuring systems to any possible position. The adjustment unit has a modular design and can be easily converted. With slide widths of 30, 50, 80 and 120 millimetres, the user is flexible. For the smallest version, for example, four different strokes of five to 20 millimetres each are available from stock, for the largest from 25 to 100 millimetres. Operators can not only connect slides to each other, but also to manual turning units. For this purpose, IEF-Werner offers the MDV series, which is available in four sizes. The smallest version has a diameter of 55 millimetres, the largest a rectangular cross-section of 100 x 140 millimetres. The backlash of the worm gearing is adjustable and already optimally reduced to a minimum at the factory. For the user, this means even higher positioning repeatability.

At Motek, IEF-Werner will also be presenting a gantry system with the toothed belt axis module 115/25. With this, the automation specialist will demonstrate the handling of pallets with the help of a large gantry system. Companies can use it to handle pallets or crates weighing up to 40 kilograms. The basic body of the module is characterised in particular by high bending and torsional rigidity. This enables designers to implement large spans - and that is precisely what is advantageous when constructing gantry systems. Even with high loads and large strokes, no additional support structures are required. Strokes of up to 6.5 metres can be realised. The linear unit is available in stroke increments of 60 millimetres each.

How can small and light components in the watchmaking industry, medical sector, microsystems or precision engineering be moved automatically - and quickly and precisely? IEF-Werner is answering this question at Motek with the miniSPIN series. The user gets a compact and highly dynamic handling system for components weighing up to 20 grams and a total cycle time of less than 240 milliseconds. Depending on the application, the series can be used as a stand-alone solution or combined with linear units.
