The Art of Self-Optimization

EU research project SelSus: IEF-Werner develops a self-optimizing linear axis

In the EU research project SelSus, researchers work together with partners from the industry to find a technology that predicts machine failures before they occur. IEF-Werner from Furtwangen in the Black Forest is one of the participating Companies. The automation specialist built a prototype, in which an intelligent toothed belt axis permanently monitors its condition and performance and it analyses its wear. It communicates via cloud connection with the other components and is able to keep the production running by danger of failure.
