What is the Exhaust Manifold Heat Riser Tube?

Heat Riser Tube

The exhaust manifold heat riser tube is a component in an internal combustion engine, specifically designed to help with cold engine starts and improve fuel atomization. It typically connects the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold and utilizes the heat from the exhaust gases to warm the intake air and fuel mixture. This warming helps to vaporize the fuel more efficiently, leading to better combustion, reduced emissions, and improved engine performance during the initial start-up phase, especially in cold weather.

The heat riser tube often works in conjunction with a heat riser valve or a similar mechanism that controls the flow of hot exhaust gases through the tube. This valve is usually thermostatically controlled, opening and closing based on the engine's temperature. When the engine is cold, the valve directs hot exhaust gases through the heat riser tube, and once the engine reaches its optimal operating temperature, the valve closes to prevent further heating, ensuring efficient engine performance.
