Metrology has always been focused on precision and repeatability. It is still Trimos intention nowadays to push the performances of its avant-garde instruments ever closer to the limits of physics. However, the instruments also have to be adapted to workshops conditions as well as to the parts to be measured.
As an example, for a simple calliper, we speak of a precision of 20µm. This same calliper is checked with 10-time more precise gauge blocks, which in turn will be calibrated with a horizontal measuring bench of yet another 10-time higher precision.
